Aleksej Kručenych, the Russian poet and futurist is considered a "pedantic, tireless verbal jonglur" and was called a "Jesuit of words" by his artistic partner Vladimir Mayakovsky, among others. The poem Kr Dei Macelli is an expression of the transmeltal art language Zaum and illustrates Kručenych's way of working between sound-forming, and speech, his decomposition of language and sound into vowels, consonants, noises and sounds.

The poem was written during Kručenych's time in Tbilisi, a phase in which he found particularly extreme and extraordinary forms of expression with Zaum. In Kr Dei Macelli (Eng: Kručenych of the Butchers) he combines his extreme sounds with Dadaist-like approaches.
