This album by the Danish artist Asger Jorn and the Frenchman Jean Dubuffet was recorded in several
sessions between December 1960 and March 1961 at the Galleria del Cavallino in Venice. Both artists
played different instruments, Jorn was also responsible for the score and artwork of the original
cover. It was released in an edition of 50 copies and included a 4-page booklet with lyrics and
photographs by Jorn.

The improvised-looking piece Crépite et flambe consists of percussion instruments, some of which
are classical musical instruments and some of which are everyday objects that were misappropriated. Dubuffet recorded the improvisations with a Grundig tape recorder. Dubuffet
compared the imperfect, improvised recording with the listening situation in everyday life, which is
also unclear, diffuse and superimposed, not clear and delimited, as are high-quality studio recordings.
