Between 1966 and 1969, the French sound poet Bernhard Heidsieck created 13 pieces in the series Biopsies. The series is considered his most radical and legally dubious work, containing, among other things, personal information from sensitive everyday transactions. For example, he uses questionnaires and administrative documents from his bank as part of his work; he even incorporates his national insurance number into a poem. In Biopsy 8, he uses the numbers of his identity card and driver's licence and thus develops a critique of the numerical system in which all people are trapped.
