Jacques Charlier

Jaques Charlier (*1939) is a self-taught artist from Belgium. He works in many fields of art and by means of many different techniques such as painting, photography, video, music, writing, sculpture, installations, comic drawing and performance. The art currents of the 1960s, the outgrowths of the artistic avant-garde that spilled over from the USA to Europe, were an occasion for him to become active as an artist himself and to develop artistic outgrowths in his own sense. Marcel Broodthears was his source of inspiration and ally.

In 2009 he published the comic La Courbure de l'Art, a satire on the contemporary art scene in France. Between 2009 and 2011, he traveled through Europe under the title CLArtvision to create a reportage on contemporary art and its manifestations.
