Valie Export and Monsti Wiener produced two albums together: Wahre Freundschaft in 1978 and Bananen in 1981. The recordings were made in Wiener's apartment in Berlin Kreuzberg and were self-published; Wahre Freundschaft was released in an edition of 1000 copies.

Valie Export's and Monsti Wiener's activities in the field of sound art were limited to the two albums mentioned above. They can be seen as a search for the intersection between Valie Export's experience in film and performance and Monsti Wiener's activity as a musician. The setting of the home production, the pieces of music that seem spontaneous and improvised, combined with the clearly audible fun that the two artists seem to have had during the recording, suggests that the title of the album, Wahre Freundschaft, was indeed a recourse to reality.

The release of a sound that is apparently based on a spontaneous activity of good humor and allows a lot of insight into the emotions during recording was a novelty at the time of its release. Giving so much space to personal and current feelings in the music release, thus counterpointing the seriousness and seriousness of traditional music production, was one of the central achievements of the album.
