The French artist, Yves Klein, did not always focus on visual art; he composed his own music for some of his exhibitions and action art pieces. Particularly outstanding was the symphony Monoton-Silence, written by him and performed by an orchestra in March 1960. It consisted of only one sound and was intended to serve as an equivalent to his monochrome paintings. In 1965, Sight & Sound Productions released the LP Music of the Void (Prince of Space) - Dance of the Void by Yves Klein in cooperation with Charles Wilp, who conducted the Outer Space Philharmonic Orchestra. As the name suggests, this vinyl is a further development of Klein's attempt to compose a silent, monotonous symphony.
