The piece Meditations 1 by the two artists Ay-O and Emmett Williams is the recording of a
performance at Ay-O's exhibition Some Hanging Pieces and took place on the 9th of September 1994 in Kassel. 150 copies were pressed on red vinyl, 130 of which were for free sale.

Together with his artist friend Emmett Williams, Ay-O performed the alphabet in German. He worked his way through the alphabet, adding and taking away one letter at a time, both forward and backward. The occasional noticeable laughter from the audience suggests a humorous, relaxed mood of the performance and the ironic character, that Fluxus events often carried in their undertone. The title of the piece, "Meditations", suggests the enormous concentration that the rapid pronunciation of the alphabet, especially backward, demanded of the artist.
