The musician, theorist and philosopher Jean-Marc Vivenca used several technical sound generators, recorders and distortion for his compositions to create an industrial, mechanical and rhythmic sound. In 1985, he developed servomécanismes, a technique of inserting feedback into his sounds, inspired by the musique bruitiste of the Italian futurist Luigi Russolo. Based on this technique, he created the album Réalités Servomécaniques, from which the piece Mecanisme du Bruit, heard here, comes.
