The album War Pur War by the two extroverted artists Thomas Kapielski and Frieder Butzmann was
released in 1987 by the label Zensor, which Butzmann co-founded and significantly influenced. The
16 tracks on the album were recorded in the winter of 1986/87 at the so-called Institut Unzeit at Erkelenzdamm in Berlin Kreuzberg.
The title Rolle der Frau (Role of the Woman) is based on electro-acoustically produced sounds and
the voices of the two protagonists and continues the series of absurd, ironic, yet enigmatic pieces on
the album.
