The Danish musician and artist Henning Christiansen collaborated with Joseph Beuys on several occasions to provide the musical component in his actions. For Op.50 Requiem of Art, which he also designed together with Beuys, Christiansen stayed on the film set during the production of the film The Search by Ursula Reuter Christiansen and made field recordings. He mixed these recordings with the organ music of the performance Eurasienstab, which he had performed together with Beuys in Vienna in 1967 and repeated in Antwerp in 1968.

The detailed title of the piece, Requiem of Art fluxorum organum II Opus 50, indicates the continuation of the 1967 performance, whose full title is Eurasienstab 82 min fluxorum organum Op. 39.

The piece was released on an album together with the Scottish Symphony, which Beuys and Christiansen wrote for the actions Celtic and Celtic+~~~ and performed in 1970 and 1971.
