The flexi disc Sounds for 4 Cinema Pieces by the American theatrical director and artist Robert Whitman was an invitation to his exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, in 1968. The sound carrier is a so-called sound sheet by the company EvaTone, at that time the sole manufacturer of the flexi disc. The cover contained instructions to flip the front cover back and place the entire booklet on the turntable for playback. The flexi disc was in a white envelope printed with the most important information about the exhibition. It also contained four black and white illustrations and a text by Jan van der Marck about some of Whitman's works that were in the exhibition.
