The Emperor Song was the basis for a video project by the Colombian artist Raul Marroquin. It deals with the fictional character Juan Marañas, who often appears in Marroquin's works. The single was performed by the concept band The Neutronic at the Mazzo Club in Amsterdam. Marroquin processed the resulting video footage into a documentary music video with which he analyses and criticises mass media.

The single Greatest Hits consists of two songs, The Emperor Song on the A-side and Maraña's The Man on the B-side. Both songs are stylistically extremely different but address the same content: the glorification of the figure of Juan Marañas. By repeating the same content in two different forms, he alludes to methods of opinion-forming in mass media and raises the question of the acceptance of influence and authority by the media.
