The piece Piano Solo in N.Y., presumably recorded in 1984 by the extroverted artist A. R. Penck, who was born in the GDR, always served as another work of his gift for improvisation and self-taught appropriation. He expressed himself musically, not only on the piano but also with drums, double bass, guitar, flute and vocals.

The LP, limited to 500 copies, comes with an offset-printed cover designed by Penck himself. The artist's expulsion from the GDR in 1980 enabled him to travel internationally, performing in places such as New York, where this recording was made.
