The Abschiedssymphonie. Opus 177 by Henning Christiansen, Nam June Paik and Joseph Beuys was performed on November 29th 1985, in the foyer of the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg as the opening concert of the Biennale des Friedens. Christiansen and Paik played on two grand pianos and other instruments and sound generators. A telephone was placed on the third grand piano, through which Beuys, who was not present due to illness, was connected to the concert. The latter spoke philosophical remarks during the performance and gave instructions for the execution of acoustic features.

The piece heard here is the B-side of the record.
