Larry Rivers' jazz piece Nobody home was released on the Artsound Collection by Jeff & Juanita Gordon and was recorded with the following line-up: Bass: Paul Brown, Drums: Earl Williams, Piano: Myron Schwartzman, Saxophone: David Levy, Tenor Saxophone: Larry Rivers, Trombone: Tom Artin, Trumpet: Howard Brofsky.

The piece is testimony to River's existence as a jazz musician, which he began early with performances in New York. As his artistic career progressed, music receded from his focus but always remained part of River's artistic expression. He studied composition at the Juilliard School of Music, where he met Miles Davis, among others, who played a major role in Rivers' future as a saxophonist in various bands. When Rivers got hold of a book on modern art in 1945, he began to shift his artistic focus away from music toward the visual arts.
