La Monte Young developed the concept of the Dream House together with Marian Zazeela in 1962. It envisages playing the composition for a long time and continuously, thus giving the piece an extraordinary expansion. Through variations within the performance, a life of its own is to be developed and eventually expand into a self-sustaining organic dynamic that concludes. In its manifestations, the overall concept encompasses a light environment that immerses the visitor in a world that is not only sonically but also visually independent and is designed to absorb the visitor for an extended period, placing them in an intimate connection with the music.

The 1973 album Dream House 78'17" is one of Young's few releases. He recorded it with his group Theatre of Eternal Music, and the record achieved an unusually long playing time for this period, which gave it a high profile.

The piece heard here is an excerpt from the album for the compilation Fluxus Anthology by Maurizio Nannucci.
