The piece Le monde et moi by the Belgian musician and artist Baudouin Oosterlynck is a product of Oosterlynck's exploration of acoustic phenomena throughout his musical oeuvre. He made numerous recordings of sound phenomena from his surroundings and used them for his compositions. In Le monde et moi, he combines the recording of metallic clatter and clang with guitar playing. The object sound seems to be caused by an action that is always the same, many times in succession, giving the impression of a recording played in a loop. Small changes in the sound, however, indicate a continuous recording of the repetitive phenomenon, the guitar playing reinforces the flowing sound character.
