The sound of the song Gut und Böse (Good and Evil) by Markus Oehlen is atypical for the punk music of its time, with its experimentation, tonal variety, electronic samples and slow speed. At the same time, the piece contains many parallels in instrumentation, type of singing and drumming with the young punk music of the time. It was released on a vinyl 12", which contains the track Beer is enough on the A-side, after which the single is also named, and Gut und Böse on the B-side. The record is considered one of the first sampling works in the field of punk and German pop music.

Oehlen released the record under his own name without any band affiliation. It was released on the label What's so Funny About..., a sub-label of Zick Zack Records from Hamburg, which was particularly important for the punk movement of the 1980s.
