The library of mumok, the museum moderner kunst stiftung ludwig wien offers all those interested in art comprehensive research opportunities and engagement with the scientific discourses in art. The library contains about 40.000 items and in particular books, artists’s books, catalogues and magazines about art in the 20th and 21st centuries.

The library’s holdings have some special focal areas:

- Publications about the art of the 60’s and 70’s
- Catalogues relating to international exhibitions
- Lierature relating to current art discourses
- Art magazines from the 1960’s on
- Documentary material relating to mumok events.

In 2006 the library of the art collector Wolfgang Hahn was acquired. This collection made it possible to integrate catalogues with great art historical value and artists’ books from the 60’s and 70’s into the library’s special collection.

The library is a reference library and reading places are available. We value quality service highly and encourage art research through cooperative projects with universities and specialists.
